LAS MIGAS

Wednesday, November 1, 2017
12:00 p.m. Lunch Hour with Las Migas (free & open to all)*
7:30 p.m. Las Migas in Concert
Jones Theatre at Daggy Hall

** 2017 Latin Grammy nominees for Best Flamenco Album! **

Unique among Spanish music groups, Las Migas offer a fascinating blend of Flamenco and Mediterranean styles, combining classic and contemporary rhythms with melodies ranging from powerful to passionate to playful.

The women of Las Migas come from four different cities—Barcelona, Sevilla, Cordoba, and Lerida—spanning not only Spain's geography, but also its cultural diversity. The two Andalusians, Marta Robles and Alicia Grillo, are the guitarists. The two Catalans are vocalist and dancer Alba Carmona and violinist Roser Loscos.

As not only performers but also composers and arrangers of their own work, Las Migas create a surprising fusion of cultures that's been described as "music for the soul."

*Lunch hour with Las Migas is copresented with WSU Global Connections and will be livestreamed. Register to attend online at connections.wsu.edu/lasmigas
